MR. Md. Farid Ahmed (CEO) - ASA Pakistan Ltd.

Mr. Md. Farid Ahmed joined with ASA Pakistan as Chief Executive Officer (CEO) on 29th of March 2017. Prior joining with ASA Pakistan Mr. Ahmed earned over 24 years of professional experiences in the field of Microfinance and Social development. He also earned 14 years+ overseas working experiences.

Mr. Ahmed started his career in microfinance with BRAC Bangladesh in 1992. Then moved to ASA (world renowned MFI based in Bangladesh) in 1996 as Assistant Director (Program) and was promoted to Deputy Director (Program) in 2007. Over 21 years association with ASA Bangladesh Mr. Ahmed have been deputed in different countries including Pakistan, Cambodia, China, Sri Lanka and in the Philippines (provided consultancy services to Microstart Project sponsored by UNDP-Philippines) and served in different capacities such as Executive Director, General Manager, Acting Chief Executive Officer, Deputy Chief Executive Officer, Consultant which enabled him to learned different microfinance environment.

Mr. Ahmed is experienced in corporate governance, compliance management, internal control, management information system, financial reporting, taxation, internal audit functions, antimony laundering issues and HR and administrative function. He also experienced in microfinance model design, product pricing, product diversifications, client protection principle, social performance management, monitoring system and tools development and portfolio quality management. He processed specialization in individual lending including developing policies, methodologies, promotion strategies, documentation process, tools, collateral/credit guarantees. Moreover, he possessed excellent interpersonal, analytical and organization skills and effective to direct, train and motivate staff to its fullest potential.

Mr. Ahmed was born on March 12, 1963. He obtained masters degree in Accounting in the year 1987 from the University of Rajshahi, Bangladesh.

Malik T. Hussain Awan – Deputy CEO

Visionary Executive leader with expertise in all facets of banking management, financial analysis, and operations within international banking and finance operations; skilled in collaborating with all members of the organization to achieve business and financial objectives; instrumental in streamlining and improving processes, enhancing productivity, and implementing technology solutions; ability to perform effective customer relationship management and business partnership management and an ability to operate accounting and management software, efficiently.

MR. KAMRAN HUSSAIN – CHIEF FINANCIAL OFFICER (CFO)

Mr. Hussain is a qualified Chartered Accountant from Institute of Chartered Accountants of Pakistan coupled with Bachelors in Commerce, he has been carrying out various professional experience of over 18 years in manufacturing, industries and Chartered Accountants firms.

He is a committed professional with chronicled success of over a decade in providing strategic leadership in multifunctional role in professionally managed organization.

He is equipped with thorough practical knowledge of banking and finance, Audit, Accounts management, MIS, System development and setting internal controls for safeguarding the organization for all unseen possible losses and inefficiencies.

MR. AZIZ KAPADIA – COMPANY SECRETARY

Mr. Kapadia has 25 years’ experience in Financial and Insurance/Takaful sectors in Finance and Accounting, Internal Control System, Assurance, Compliance Management and Corporate Affairs.

Prior to joining ASA Pakistan, he worked with AON Insurance Brokers, AVIVA, Jubilee Insurance and Pak-Kuwait Takaful in senior positions. Since the last 10 years he has been handling the Corporate Secretarial affairs of public limited companies ensuring compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements and ensuring that decisions of the board of directors are implemented. He has attended various financial and corporate trainings in USA, Malaysia and Pakistan.

Mr. Kapadia holds an MBA from IBA Karachi and MBA from Kansas, USA with specialization in Finance and Accounts.

MR. SYED MUHAMMAD AZHAR – HEAD OF IT

Mr. Azhar is a seasoned professional with diversified experience in the field of Information Technology, he has 24 years of experience and worked in different banks.

His experience consists on Project management, Implementation of core banking systems, IT Security management, IT Operation management, BCP/DRP management etc.

Prior to joining ASA Pakistan he served The Bank of Khyber as Head of IT Division, he also worked at Faysal bank, Burj Bank & ANZ Grindlays bank.

Mr. Azhar holds master’s degree and PGD with Computer Science, he is certified Information System Security Officer and ISACA member with various International Certifications and professional trainings.

MR. TUFAIL RAJPAR – HEAD OF BUSINESS

Mr. Rajpar is a Senior Banking professional with more than 20+ years of experience of managing multiple tasks of operations and credit. Associated with ASA Pakistan Ltd since last year 2016, joined as Head of Business.

Before ASA he was associated with Pak Oman microfinance Bank Ltd. Proven track record with leading organizations in successfully leading the functions of banking operations. Being a young, energetic and dedicated development professional, he has strong managerial, administrative and operational skills and can lead the team in any tough environment to get desirable results. He has experience in the field operations management, strategic business planning, training/capacity building, livelihood, portfolio management, development of SOPs, transformation process from NGO into specialized microfinance program, budgeting, risk management, governance, financial analysis, product costing, productivity management, internal control, fraud prevention, management of human resource and project management.

He joined development sector as a field officer and reached at the position of CEO of Safco Support Foundation (SSF) in a very small span of time. he was also part of different national and international exposure of different microfinance institutions/Banks, professional trainings/courses, workshops, seminars and international conferences throughout the world i.e. USA, UK, Canada, Switzerland, Germany, Netherlands, Spain, Italy, Belgium, South Africa, India, Bangladesh, Srilanka, Thailand, Philippines, Indonesia, Singapore, Vietnam, Oman and Kenya.

He has been part of different study trips of Grameen and BRAC (Bangladesh), BRI (Indonesia) CARD MRI (Philippines) Bandhan (India) SKS (India) M-Pesa-Safaricom and Equity Bank (Kenya), Wizzit (South Africa), NRSP (Pakistan) Kashf (Pakistan) RSPN Programs and completed Certification Course of “Boulder Microfinance Management” from ILO International Training Center in Turin, Italy 2009.

MR. SHAHZAD AJMERY – HEAD OF HUMAN RESOURCES

Mr. Shahzad is a seasoned HR Professional, MBA with over 25 years of progressive operational and strategic HR experience. Led setting of strategic direction of the organization with regards to its structures, manpower planning and capacity building. Experience in 360-degree revamping of HR systems and processes as well as leading and managing change and organization and culture initiatives. Prior to Joining ASA Pakistan he worked with Deutsche Bank AG, Pakistan for almost 24 years, his last assignment at Deutsche Bank AG was Head of Human Resources for Pakistan. Also worked with DHL Pakistan in Finance Department for almost two years. Attended different HR professional training both local as well as international.

MR. ASHOK KUMAR SHIVANI – HEAD OF COMPLIANCE

Mr. Shivani has more than 11 years of diversified experience on different position in Microfinance Banks. He has done MBA from IBA in 2005. He has in depth knowledge of the Microfinance Operations. Prior to ASA Pakistan, he was associated with Khushhali Bank Ltd, The first Microfinance bank Ltd and other Microfinance Banks.

He has been associated with ASA Pakistan since last 6 months and currently he is heading the compliance department.

SYED MOIN AHMED ZAIDI – HEAD OF INTERNAL AUDIT

Syed Moin Ahmed Zaidi is an Associate Chartered Account and member of The Institute of Chartered Accountants of Pakistan since August 15, 2016. He also holds Associate Membership of Pakistan Institute of Public Finance Accountants and also a Certified Internal Control Auditor from The Institute for Internal Controls (US). He has diversified professional working experience of almost 8 years. He has completed his CA Article-ship from one of the Big-04 audit firm “Deloitte”. Further, his industry experience comprises of managing functions of Internal Audit, Risk and Finance in public listed and unlisted companies.

MR. JAWAAD ALI – HEAD OF RISK

Mr. Jawaad Ali has an experience of almost 13 years in the field of Internal Audit and Compliance Risk. He is associated with ASA Pakistan since January 2016. Before ASA Pakistan, he was associated with UAE Based International Financial Group (FDI International) companies namely M/S Al Damam International and M/S Zain International Estates and served as Manager Internal Audit and Compliance in addition to that, he served in Pakistan leading Trading Companies namely Trade Ways International and Inter Trade Distributor’s.
